As a Corrosion Technician Trainee you will be trained in Spectra Energy’s safety, operating and maintenance procedures related to plant electrical and control systems.
Duties and responsibilities will consist of: learning to inspect, maintain and trouble-shoot natural gas pipeline facilities including, cathodic protection equipment and systems (rectifiers and ground-beds), corrosion control systems and methodology, and pipeline integrity procedures, practices and technologies.
The incumbent ensures the safe, reliable and efficient operation of facilities relative to the assigned discipline(s). The incumbent works under the direct supervision of Area management and with the assistance of Region technical staff, acquires a working knowledge and technical direction to perform the required duties and responsibilities. Incumbent works closely with pipeline/plant personnel, technicians in the same or other disciplines, and contract personnel.
The incumbent ensures compliance with Company policies/procedures as well as external regulatory bodies, such as Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), through adherence to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals.
•Associate’s Degree in a relevant technical field, or a related degree or equivalent education or experience.
•Must possess a valid driver’s license
•Must reside within 30 miles of the assigned work location
•Must be able and willing to work overtime, weekends and travel overnight as required
•Must be able to perform physically demanding activities in all types of weather conditions
•One to four years of work experience as a Technician or equivalent job knowledge.
•Be proficient in the use of standard office software applications.
•Strong technical and analytical skills demonstrated through training, formal education, and/or experience.
•Able to work independently with little direction.
•Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
•Willing to assume responsibility and take initiative to resolve issues.
•Working knowledge of operations used in the maintenance of these facilities.
•NACE certification in corrosion control is a plus in filling this position.
